Cooking class

The cook ing class deserves its own post. We went for a hands on cooking class at the New Orleans School of Cooking. The class was limited to 10 people working with the chef. The objective was to cook our own lunch. We started with bloody marys (unlimited LOL) and sat at our dinner table listening to the chef explain Louisiana cooking including creole and Cajun, along with the history of food in the area.
Then we moved to the kitchen where we had our own cooking and prep areas. We had been given recipes for chicken and andouille gumbo, gulf fish amandine, and pecan rice. Our job was to prep and cook it.

After enjoying our dinner creations, we went back to the kitchen to make dessert, bananas foster!

Me cooking the bananas and the sweet stuff!  Unfortunately I can't share movies on this site or you could watch the flambe of the bananas!
The result, a delicious dessert!

We had such a good time doing this class, highly recommend it if you are in NOLA.
